Mid-October Newsletter - TWO WEEKS until DAS RHEINGOLD

Happy Autumn everyone!

It’s only a little more than 2 weeks to go until our Das Rheingold opens at the Grand Temple in the Freemasons’ Hall, right in the heart of Covent Garden. We’re now into week 3 of rehearsals, and my word, it’s gonna be special. We’ve spent the past two weeks really honing the relationships between the characters, and making the singing exciting, and now we go into the last two weeks of rehearsal where we add technical things like lights and bits of moving set, and of course, the orchestra.

You’ll soon be seeing articles in The Times and The Guardian about us, as well as in Bachtrack and other places. It’s going to be a superb show.

If you can help with our continual fundraising efforts towards the Ring, please do get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.

It’s a huge venue and there are plenty of seats available at the moment, but we’d obviously love as many people as possible to see it. Next week we meet the orchestra and hear the full arrangement.

Wagner CD coming out soon

A CD of excerpts from The Ring, with our singers and in the arrangements you will hear, and indeed recorded in the venue where you’ll hear them is about to come out on Toccata Classics. You can already hear it on their website. Thank you to all of those who participated in the crowdfund to make this happen

Carmen at the Wimbledon Festival

There are still tickets available for our final performance of Carmen at the Wimbledon Festival on 20th November, immediately after Das Rheingold ends. We must be a bit mad…. thankfully only one member of cast, plus the musical director, stage manager and lighting designer are common to both shows!

Meanwhile, thanks as ever to Big Yellow in Camberley for storing all our stuff!
