Ben Woodward & Joe Harper — April 24, 2024

I write briefly with further news in our continued journey in becoming one of London’s leading opera companies. With the future of Regents Opera depending on the success of this Ring Cycle, we are delighted to welcome Joe Harper as Chief Development Officer on a freelance, one day a week basis.

Joe joins us with over seven years’ experience in fundraising, both at the Royal Opera House, and more recently at the Royal College of Music. As devoted supporters of exceptional classical music, I am sure many of you may have already crossed paths with him, and will look forward to welcoming him now.

We are in a fortunate position that as a professional Oboist, Joe also joins the Regents Opera orchestra for the Das Rheingold performances in both cycles, and will be heavily involved in the build up to this historic endeavour under both guises.

Joe says:

Joining Regents Opera at this time is hugely exciting. I write, currently performing in English Touring Opera’s Spring tour of the UK. This current experience, notwithstanding my time at the Royal Opera House has galvanised my desire and passion for high quality opera such as Regents Opera to succeed.

I consider myself very fortunate to be involved not only in the success of getting this Ring Cycle on stage, but to contribute to the outstanding musical standard of Regents Opera, which I am sure you all know very well.

Where larger opera companies are in receipt of huge Arts Council grants, we truly rely on your support, both individual and corporate, certainly more so by comparison. With this significant challenge also comes great unprecedented advantages. Being a smaller, fully-professional company, we are able to offer exclusive, personal access to the inner workings of one of London’s exceptional opera companies and performers, for our nearest and closest supporters.

Now is a crucial moment for Regents Opera, and the need for your support cannot be underestimated. This Ring Cycle project is a vast undertaking, both musically and logistically and with the recent news of our venue change, we are facing profound new challenges.

I am looking forward to developing a number of new avenues to support Regents Opera in general, but particularly around our Ring Cycles which I look forward to sharing with you all next month. If you would like to opt-out of any future fundraising messaging from Regents Opera, please to make us aware by writing to me at joe@regentsopera.com

To discuss your current, future or potential support, ask me anything, or just say a friendly hello, please don’t hesitate to contact me at joe@regentsopera.com or 07847 893574, if urgent.

For now, thank you for your time, and I very much look forward to meeting as many of you and your network, very soon.

Ben, Joe and the Regents Opera Team.
