Elektra-fying July - See our Brünnhilde as Elektra and get your tickets for Così at St John's Smith Square

Orchestral Repertoire weekend - Strauss’s ELEKTRA

We’re hugely looking forward to this, on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd July at Greycoats Hospital School, quite near Victoria Station. For those of you unfamiliar with our Orchestral Weekends, they give us a chance to try out operas new to our repertoire with something approaching a full-sized orchestra with regular Regents Opera faces singing the whole opera through after two days of rehearsals.

If you are a string player, and would like to play, please get in touch with Jon Cooley.

If you would like to be in the audience for the run through, which will take place at 6pm on the Sunday, please do simply turn up! We ask for a minimum £10 donation to cover costs. As always, we take cash or cards!

Cosi with the Southbank Sinfonia

We’re really excited about our upcoming performance with the Southbank Sinfonia at St John Smith Square, right in the heart of Westminster.

We’ve now taken Così to locations in Shropshire, Gloucestershire and we are just about to take it to France for the second time this year. It’s a beautiful show, and Sophie Gilpin, our director’s modern take on the ending is most thought provoking in a 21st century context - let’s face it, the opera’s plot hasn’t aged well!

Do join us for an evening of comedy, great singing, and the marvellous accompaniment of the Southbank Sinfonia. Conducted, from the harpsichord, by our own Ben Woodward.

But what about Wagner??!?

We know, right…. A Regents Opera post with no immediate Wagner coming up….Ben tells me he’s at that all exciting join between mid-period and late Wagner in the Siegfried arrangement, which must be a fascinating place to be! I am, along with the board and the rest of the team, busy planning everything towards the continuation of our Ring. Rest assured that on our return from France in a few weeks, there will be fundraising pleas and exciting news about all things Wagner! You can absolutely buy tickets now for Siegfried and full Ring Cycles. Please do carry on. But, with the accompaniment of some lovely Mozart…

Meantime, as always, thanks so much to our sponsor, Big Yellow Storage in Camberley. Thank you to keeping all of our stuff safe!
